The Story Behind DaeHan
Master Seo
Dae Han Martial Arts was the first of its kind to open in Acworth, Georgia in 1991 and has been serving greater Kennesaw, Acworth, and Powder Springs for over 20 years. Founded by Master Min Su Seo, our school opened with just 20 beginner level students and now retains hundreds of aspiring martial artist of all ages and skill levels. Dae Han currently has two locations, is a member of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF) and is internationally certified through Kuk Ki Won. Over 70% of our students train three to five years, earning their black belt and beyond. We are continually striving to improve the quality of life in our community and students.
Master Min Su Seo is originally from Dae Gu South Korea and has attained his 7th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do & Hap Ki Do, 5th degree black belt in kickboxing & Gum Do and 1st degree black belt in Sib Pal Ki over his 40 years of training. In South Korea, Master Seo attended University in South Korea as a student of Veterinary Medicine. He later served for 3 years as a Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do instructor in the South Korean Army. These experiences eventually led to Master Seo’s decision to open his own school in the United States to help others realize the countless benefits of martial arts.
Upon his arrival to the United States in 1991, Master Seo opened The Dae Han Tae Kwon Do & Hap Ki Do Association School in the Acworth, Georgia Kroger shopping center on Hwy 41. His classes outgrew the location in 3 years and the school moved to the Brookstone Publix shopping center on Mars Hill. In 2004, Master Seo started construction at Dae Han Martial Art’s current location, 1755 Dennis Kemp Lane in Kennesaw, GA (just across the street from our last location).
Master Boucher joined Master Seo at the Publix shopping center location as a certified 3rd degree black belt and in 2001 she opened her own branch of Dae Han Martial Arts in Woodstock, Georgia off of 92. She has since moved to a larger shop on the same strip and obtained her 5th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do in June of 2010.
Dae Han Martial Arts continues partnering with local businesses and schools to connect with and give back to our community. We are currently part of the Chamber of Commerce, our demonstration team performs in local fundraisers and events and we regularly volunteer and teach in our local schools and child homes. One teaching example is 2008 – 2012 where Master Seo taught a full credit course at Harrison High School and many students achieved black belt status.
“By focusing on discipline and the traditional values of Korean martial arts, Master Seo instills confidence and self-worth in his students. The values taught allow each student to achieve their personal best physically and mentally and thereby improve their overall quality of life.“
Today, our school continues offering more than physical fitness and self-defense.
