Master Jacob
Title: Master Instructor
Master Jacob Ketcham has lived all of his life in Georgia. Having only moved once, Master Jacob was able to grow up in the area and take on an active lifestyle. At the age of five he started playing baseball and began his TaeKwonDo training. TaeKwonDo quickly became more than just an activity to Master Jacob, it became a lifestyle. While being a member of Dae Han Martial Arts and a student of Master Seo’s since 2003, he has earned his current rank of Master (5th degree black belt), in TaeKwonDo. In addition to being extremely focused on his TaeKwonDo training, Master Jacob is currently training with diligence and eagerness in HapKiDo and HaiDong GumDo having received a fourth-degree black belt in each.
In addition to Master Jacob’s general TaeKwonDo training, he has also been a member of Dae Han’s Eagle Hunt Sparring Team since he was 10 years old. Currently, he is the Instructor of our Dae Han Sparring and Forms Team. Master Jacob enjoys the mental concentration and physical fitness it takes to be a competitor. He is very experienced in intense situations and enjoys being able to use his skills to participate in sparring on the weekends. Although Master Jacob enjoys fighting on the weekends, he is very laid back and passive outside of the Dojang. Other hobbies of his include drawing as well as collecting military memorabilia and researching the history behind each piece.
On January 4, 2023 Master Jacob joined the U.S. Army Georgia National Guard. Over 22 weeks at Fort Moore (formerly known as Fort Benning) Master Jacob went through the training and certifications to become a United States Soldier and then a United States Infantryman. In having joined the army the Drill sergeants quickly acknowledge Master Jacob’s ability to perform and lead other in all sorts of situations and placed him in a student leadership role amongst his platoon. He was made a PL or Platoon Leader. Throughout the majority of the 22 weeks Master Jacob, along side a soldier named Joshua “Hutch” Hutchens, lead a platoon of 60 men and women through thick and thin.
Since 2003, Master Jacob has flourished under the instruction of Master Seo as well as Master Mattern, Master Esser, and Master Colapinto, here at Dae Han. He has become a very determine minded individual and has learned the proper attitude and techniques it takes to train students of all ages, transforming them into martial artists. He enjoys being able to share his knowledge and skills with others while continuing to develop his own skills. He is a great role model for our young students. Master Jacob aspires to grow our Dae Han family by opening another Dae Han Martial Arts Facility in the future
